Asia Online Travel Sales to Grow by 90% in Ten Years

Online travel sales in Asia is expected to grow by about 90% in the coming decade with China, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Vietnam leading the way. Exhibitors at the first ITB Asia event to be held in Singapore on October 22-24 reveal the majority of online travel sales will come from existing customers aged up to 25 who are projected to gain more spending power in the next ten years.

There will be an enormous increase in online travel, says Neelu Singh, COO of India-based Ezeego One Travel and tours limited. As such global players have recognized the economical potential of the market as well as the importance of providing quality service. According to Dr. Martin Buck, director of Messe Berlin (Singapore) organizers of ITB Asia, most successful travel companies now embrace innovative technology solutions and online sales.

Aside from its own Travel Technology pavilion, ITB Asia has partnered with Web in Travel for WIT 2008 to be held also in Singapore on October 21-22. The key theme is how technology will change the way we communicate and travel in the future.

ITB Asia, the new B2B travel trade show, is intended as a venue to show exhibitors and travel buyers how they can get their share of the future of travel. ITB Asia caters to the three major sectors of the travel industry namely holiday travel, business travel, and the MICE sector. Up to 500 exhibitors from 42 countries have confirmed participation in the new B2B travel trade show which expects around 5,000 travel industry members to be in attendance. Web in Travel (WIT) is Asia’s leading travel distribution, marketing, and technology conference. This year’s WIT event is in association with PhoCusWright, Inc. and in partnership with ITB Asia.
